Why Walmart Can't Fix the Food System Webinar

Event Details

Date:

Location:
Webinar
Time:
2:45 PM EST

This nationwide webinar is hosted by the Making Change at Walmart campaign. It will be a wonderful opportunity to hear from two presenters on their recent work highlighting Walmart:

Food & Water Watch will present on the report, Why Walmart Can't Fix the Food System (http://documents.foodandwaterwatch.org/doc/FoodandWaterWatchReportWalmart022112.pdf); and Stacy Mitchell will present on her Grist series "Walmart's Greenwash: Why the retail giant is still unsustainable" (http://grist.org/series/2011-11-07-walmart-greenwash-retail-giant-still-unsustainable/).

Due to Walmart's aggressive push to enter urban areas (Chicago, New York, L.A., and Portland to name a few), we have a renewed sense of urgency in discussing the impact that Walmart has on communities. Please join us to discuss the impact of Walmart globally, nationally and locally.

We hope to begin a deeper discussion on how we can move our agendas for food and economic justice in an environment of increasing corporate consolidation. Walmart’s influence leaves little opportunity for communities to guide planning decisions that promote equitable and sustainable food systems.
