Scholarship Information for the 2014 Winter Conference
Through funding from the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the National Institute for Food and Agriculture, USDA, #2011-49400-30510 and #2011-49400-30307, and the Local Economies Project of the New World Foundation as part of its Farm Hub programming, NOFA-NY is pleased to be able to offer scholarships to aspiring and new farmers (any farmer with 10 or fewer years experience as an owner or stakeholder in farm management decisions) as well as to a small number of farmers acting as mentors to newer farmers. These scholarships will pay for up to one full conference registration per applicant, which includes breakfast and lunch each day. Lodging, travel and dinner are not covered by these scholarships. Each scholarship recipient will be assigned a volunteer job to be completed leading up to or during their time at the Winter Conference.
To apply, fill out an online form (click here). You can request a paper form by contacting NOFA-NY (do not print out the application page, as you will not access all the questions required in the application).
Your completed form must be submitted by 11:59pm on December 1st, 2013. Applicants will be notified by December 13th regarding their acceptance status and volunteer shift assignment. If you are awarded a scholarship, you must confirm that you will attend the conference (including your choice of Friday sessions, if applicable) with the NOFA-NY Registration Coordinator by December 20th. All scholarship winners must complete a two-hour work shift at the NOFA-NY Winter Conference. Those who don't receive scholarships are eligible for the Early Bird Discount if they call (585) 271-1979 ext. 509 to register by December 30th.
Thank you for your interest. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel at (585) 271-1979 ext. 511 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
