Want to keep your garden free of weeds and pests?  The secret is building a healthy garden system.  In this workshop gardeners will learn to create systems to combat weeds (plants that grow where you don’t want them) and pests.  Strategies include learning to identify weeds native to the environment, building healthy soil, cultivating plants that provide habitat for beneficial insect “allies.”  Bring your favorite garden tool and don’t worry about getting dirty.  We’ll conclude with refreshments and conversation in the garden.

Karen Kerney has been farming sustainably in Cortland, NY for nearly three decades and is a founding member of NOFA-NY.  Karen is also an artist and an activist, working as the Art Director for Syracuse Cultural Workers.  She works, hands-on, to build a better world.

This event is FREE and open to the public. No pre-registration is needed.
