Organic Grass Based Dairying with Bedded Pack System!
Event Details
Please join NOFA-NY and Steven Weaver for a pasture walk of Weaver Family Farm. The tour will include input from Troy Bishopp, grazing specialist with the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District, on making daily decisions using a grazing monitoring chart and measuring biological life in your pasture swards. Learn about how Steven manages his intensive grazing system with a focus on perennials and twice-a-day paddock rotation with a gateless pasture system. Steven will also discuss how the bedded pack system is incorporated into his fertility plan and increases in overall herd health. Lunch will be provided for an optional donation, and all donations will go to benefit Siloam Springs School.
Steven Weaver and his family moved to the Morrisville area in 1996. The Weaver Farm has been certified organic since 2008. Steven manages a grass based dairy of 65 cows on 100 acres of pasture.
