Training Event for Farmer-Educators and Mentors on March 16th at Groundswell Center in Ithaca, NY
Event Details
Join members of Finger Lakes CRAFT and Groundswell on Wednesday, March 16 at the EcoVillage FROG Common House, 5-8PM, to learn how you can become a more effective educator and mentor on your farm. Whether your goals are to provide better training and mentoring to your interns and employees, to conduct fabulous farm tours for the public, put on a great workshop, or just to get more comfortable about sharing your knowledge with others, this discussion will help you. Share your successes and your frustrations. Explore what makes a great learning experience. Reflect on how to respectfully engage learners with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Take home ideas, tools and helpful contacts that you can put to use this season. Additionally, Rachel Schell-Lambert, the NOFA-NY Beginning Farmer Coordinator will give a short introduction to the NOFA-NY Farm Apprenticeship Program and explain how it can supplement your on-farm training program. The cost for this workshop is $10 plus a dish-to-pass. Or join the Finger Lakes CRAFT ($25) and get in free! Pre-registration is coordinated by sending an email to: info@groundswellcenter.org.
