Organic weed management requires a strategic approach that relies on rotations, diversity, and cultural practices. The field day will demonstrate a number of effective strategies for weed management in field and vegetable crops. The field day will demonstrate techniques such as soil preparation, variety selection, row spacing, mulching, and cultivation. Farmers will be encouraged to share their strategies for organic weed management. Box lunch will be provided.

Thorpe’s Organic Family Farm is a highly diversified family farm of 2,300 acres, growing corn, soybeans, small grains and a wide range of vegetables.  Certified organic since 1994, Gayle and Mike Thorpe offer vegetable and fruit shares through an organic customer supported agriculture program. The farm also grows grains and hay for livestock.
