Thursday, August 25th is opening day, also known as Governors Day, at the New York State Fair. The New York State Fair is one of the largest fairs in the United States and opens its doors to a million attendees over the course of 2 weeks. Highlighted at the fair every year is New York's agriculture industry and its farmers. Governor Cuomo will be there to participate in the opening ceremony at 10AM. At 9AM, we will be hosting a press conference along with other New York farmers against fracking. Due to its dependence on clean water and clean air for quality food, agriculture is most vulnerable to the contamination from fracking. Demand for NY farm products also stems from the image of pure, healthy NY farms. Come stand in solidarity with New York farmers on opening day.
***Visuals: Bring signs in support of farmers, food, agriculture, and NY's economy. Please leave the general anti-fracking signs at home, so we can keep the message focused.***
