9 am- 5 pm Come spend the day at Escot Valley Farm in Kerhonkson NY. Learn all aspects of how to humanely slaughter, process and butcher a homestead hog.
Topics covered will include: Considerations for and benefits of pasturing homestead hogs,
setting up a humane slaughter pens (animal privacy/acclimatization), humane
stunning/proper bleeding, evisceration and scalding techniques, carcass preparation, home butchering demonstration.

Because this is a hands on workshop, space is limited to 12 participants. We will be processing 3 hogs, 2 Tamworth and a Tamworth cross during this workshop.
Participant Fee - $15
Note: bring appropriate clothing and your own lunch. Also, you are welcome to bring your own
knives and meat hacksaws. We will start at 9am sharp, so come a little earlier.
Pre-registration is required to attend this workshop as the space is limited to 12.
