Plowing Clinic with The Draft Animal Power Network
The Draft Animal Power Network (an educational nonprofit) is holding a Plowing Clinic with Sam Rich a National Plowing Champion on April 21-22. Besides competitive plowing, Sam uses draft horses on his family's farm to grow corn, spelt, hay, vegetables, sap gathering and logging. The clinic will be for beginners and those looking to solve any plowing problems that they may have. Participants are to bring a team or single, equine or bovine draft animals and their plow. Time will be spent in the shop tuning and adjusting the plows and then the rest of the instruction will be in field plowing with the animals. Techniques covered will include plowing by number, deep, shallow and vertical plowing like the Nordell's use on their farm. There is limited space for teamster participants ($300), but plenty of room for auditors ($50 one day, $75 both days), food and space for rough camping are available. For more information contact Kevin Tucker at firstname.lastname@example.org or call him at 860-664-0142, or visit their event page here. Rain Dates April 28 and 29.
