Come one, come all, to Agrarian Acts—a contemporary county fair celebrating the multifarious ideas, enterprises, and creative work of a New Generation of Farmers. The day's events will include: a screening of the film The Greenhorns, by Severine von Tscharner Fleming; the children's dramatized story Cornplosion! by Carly and Scott Sell; The Vagabond's Vaudeville, by Charlie Traeger; and NACL's The Little Farm Show. Throughout the day view photographic art by young farmers, hear Kurt Knuth and friends delight with bluegrass and old-timey music, learn how to build a small greenhouse, how to make sauerkraut, and make face paint from natural dyes. Take workshops on stilt walking, perma-culture, and seed saving (with the Dirt Diva). Sing work songs from around the world, be entertained and enlightened by the Farmers' Soap Box, compete in the lettuce-eating contest, and hug a piglet from Majestic Farm. Meet farm and food organizations like The Greenhorns, Pure Catskills, Shop Local/Save Land, and Farmhearts. You can even barter your garden produce at a Crop Swap on the lawn. The day kicks-off at 12 noon with NACL's The Little Farm Show followed by a potluck lunch (bring some food to share). Activities continue until 5 PM.
