The Rice in the Northeast USA Project is an effort to support sustainable, small-scale, organic rice production in the northeastern United States. This website provides agricultural and environmental information about rice cultivation in this northern climate extreme. Details about the annual summer workshop and corresponding proceedings are also available.
The "Second Annual Northeast USA Rice Conference" will be held at Akaogi Farm in Westminster West, Vermont on Saturday, August 6th, 2011 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. This conference follows the first one that was held in 2009, proceedings of which are available here. Lunch will be provided and the conference will focus on wildlife conservation issues associated with rice paddy systems in the morning and general rice agriculture topics in the afternoon.
