SARATOGA SPRINGS HILTON

January 19th-20th, 2012

Join us on January 19th and 20th, 2012 at the Saratoga Springs Hilton for NOFA-NY’s inaugural Organic Farming Symposium. Come learn up-to-the-minute organic agricultural research from academics at some of this country’s most respected institutions. Engage in in-depth discussions with researchers and practitioners exploring the latest techniques for a successful organic farm. Share your own experiments and best practices with researchers and farmers.

Join 200 organic farmers from New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Maine, over 30 researchers, and 10 student researchers from the Northeast and across the country.

Presentations, discussions and poster sessions will cover the following research topics:

•Issues in Organic Vegetable Production
•Issues in Organic Fruit Production
•Issues in Organic Ruminant Livestock Systems
•Issues in Organic Non-Ruminant Livestock Systems
•Issues in Organic Grain Systems
•Soil Management in Organic Systems
•Pest Management in Organic Systems
•Weed Management in Organic Systems
•Economics & Marketing of Organic Systems

Those conducting organic research will benefit from the symposium by sharing their work with organic farmers who will put the research into practice, and by gaining insight on farmers’ research priorities. Organic farmers will be exposed to the most current organic agricultural research, potentially improving their on-farm techniques and their understanding of their farm’s agroecology. Students will have the unique opportunity to share research with the organic farming community and academics from around the country, receive feedback on their work, and collect ideas for future exploration.

Register here on the   website or call Katie (Registration Coordinator) at (585)271-1979 ext. 512! Attend both the Symposium and the Winter Conference and receive an additional discount.
