NOFA-NY 37th Annual Organic Farming and Gardening Conference
Annual conference to take place January 18-20, 2019 in Saratoga Springs

Syracuse, NY—NOFA-NY’s annual Winter Conference will take place this week at the Saratoga Hilton & City Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. One of the largest conferences in the region, the NOFA-NY 2019 Winter Conference will feature over 100 educational workshops across 13 tracks. The theme of this year's conference is “Climate of Change.”

The Winter Conference Keynote Speaker will be Leah Penniman, Co-Director & Program Manager of Soul Fire Farm in Grafton, New York. Leah is the author of the recently-published book, Farming While Black: Soul Fire Farm’s Practical Guide to Liberation on the Land.

Each year, the Winter Conference celebrates NOFA-NY’s Farmers of the Year. This year’s awardees are Fred and Karen Lee of Sang Lee Farms in Peconic, New York. Certified organic since 2007, the Lees have intentionally shifted their farming practices, distribution, and product line to focus on direct sales of more than 100 varieties of specialty vegetables through farmers markets, a farm stand, and a CSA. Fred and Karen Lee will also deliver a keynote address at the conference.

Concurrent with our Winter Conference, NOFA-NY is honored to host the second biennial Northeast Organic Seed Conference. The Seed Conference will offer an in-depth look at plant breeding and seed saving practices throughout the Northeast. Special events will include a seed swap and a documentary screening.
