2019 Farm Crew
Position Description
We are hiring three full-time and two part-time Farm Crew for the 2019 season (March-October).

Applicants should desire to work on a small-scale, high production vegetable farm. You must be in good physical and mental condition, with the ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and work 10-hour days, sometimes in the rain and wind, and often in a hot, dry, sunny environment. Ideal candidates love food, cooking and being outside. Previous farming experience is preferred but not required and they pay varies depending on the extent of your farming experience. There are ample opportunities to learn on our farm; so beginning farmers are encouraged to apply.
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Greenhouse Plant Propagation

High Tunnel Production

Compost Production
Irrigation Management



Packing and Washing Produce

General Grounds Management and Maintenance

Occasional assistance with on-site retail and bakery business

We are a crew of 3-6 people depending on the time of year. Some work is independent, and some is in a team. You will need to be able to work with others, listen and follow directions well. During the hottest time of the summer, we usually start early around 6am but in the shoulder season we have a later start time. This is a 5-day/week job and can not guarantee that your days off will be consecutive.

Housing: There is no housing available on the farm however we are able to help find a room or house for rent if you are moving from out of town.

Food: All farm seconds and you will receive a hefty discount off any food sold in the on-site bakery and farm stand. Meals are on your own.

Vehicles: Having your own vehicle is desirable, but is not required. However, you must have a valid driver's license. Ability to drive manual is helpful, but not required.

COMPENSATION this position is PAID: hourly, varies DOE, $11-$16.


Youngs Farm is a diversified fruit and vegetable farm located in Old Brookville, NY. The farm has been managed by the same family since its founding in 1893. The farm grows approximately 10 acres of fruit and vegetable crops, almost exclusively sold through our year-round on-site farm stand and bakery. The farm is currently transitioning to organic production and operating under the NOFA Farmer's Pledge as part of a multi-year transition process.
