Position Title
Sales and Marketing Associate
Position Description
The Sales and Marketing Associate supports all tasks related to the Sales and Marketing department, while providing exceptional customer service to Vermont Compost Company clientele. This position will provide direct assistance to the management team in efforts to further enhance sales, and carry out Vermont Compost Company’s marketing strategy. A positive attitude, flexibility and attention to detail are essential for success in this position. The sales department handles a high volume of sales creating a fast-paced environment late fall through spring. Throughout the summer months, there are opportunities to work outside and help out in other departments depending on interests.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
● Receive and respond to sales inquiries, and process orders via Quickbooks Desktop: Premier Manufacturing & Wholesale Edition 2017
● Quote, hire, organize and troubleshoot all outbound trucking
● Ensure excellent customer service and support

Sales Duties:
● Facilitate sales of compost and potting soils to professional growers, home growers and retailers
● Monitor calls and emails, and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
● Communicate with Fulfillment Manager on outbound orders; ensure all order documentation is complete and organized
● Complete tasks as delegated by Sales and Marketing Manager, supporting them as needed to improve overall departmental performance

Marketing Duties:
● Conduct farm visits and attend trade shows and conferences to promote VCC’s product and mission
● Collaborate with Sales & Marketing Manager and Communication & Content Editor on advertising, sponsorships, blog, newsletter and website
● Develop and help maintain an opt-in email list serve
● Responsible for social media account content and management

Qualifications:
Candidates with strong combinations of qualifications listed below will be considered
● Experience in sales, marketing, customer service, fulfilment, or logistics
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to manage complex logistics
● Strong Interpersonal skills, with a positive outlook, and a sense of humor!
● Highly organized with a keen attention to detail
● Soil science, agronomy, and/or knowledge of fruit, vegetable, flower and/or hemp production
● Ability to effectively multitask and manage many interruptions and personalities
● Flexibility: able to prioritize and manage workload in an evolving work environment.
● Motivated and energized to innovate and implement systems to improve internal operations
● Experience with data management systems, Excel, Google Suite, and Quickbooks
● Self directed with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
● Digital media, photography, professional writing

Location and Schedule: This position is based out of our Montpelier, Vermont location. Our offices are open Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, with occasional weekend and travel work

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, year-round, hourly position with compensation commensurate with experience. This position includes paid time off, 3% matching IRA, and some additional benefits.
