The Brady Farm is a 5.8 acre organic, not-for-profit farm in the heart of Syracuse, NY. The mission of the Brady Farm is to grow and sell affordable produce on the Southside of Syracuse, while providing job training and education to the community. The Brady Farm is a project of the Brady Faith Center, whose mission is to bring hope, healing and justice to the residents of the Southside of Syracuse through a variety of life-giving programs. The Brady Farm practices the ethos of the Brady Faith Center by fostering physical, mental and spiritual well-being through fellowship in the growing, selling, preparation and consuming of healthy food. The Brady Farm employs seasonal farm help, and relies heavily on volunteers to complete farm tasks throughout the year. The Brady Farm is committed to social justice, environmental sustainability, and sharing love through food.

Job Duties
Market Assistants are responsible for supporting the Farm leadership team in harvesting, washing, packing and selling produce through a year-round CSA, at three farm markets, and to wholesale customers. The Market
Assistant will:
• Follow safe handling guidelines while harvesting, washing and packing produce on farm;
• Follow safe food handling guidelines while storing and selling produce;
• Assist with washing of harvest equipment and tools, storage spaces, and general work spaces;
• Assist with farm stand sales Saturday morning at the Regional Market or Brady Farm from June - October;
• Assist with packing CSA boxes;
• Work as a member of a diverse team of people committed to building community through growth and sales of produce;
• Represent the Brady Farm at Farm stands and with customers;
• Help with other farm duties as assigned.

The Market Assistant Seasonal position requires 15 - 20 hrs per week, with an expectation to work Thursday and Friday mornings, and Saturdays from May - October. The pay is $13.00/hr.

Qualifications:
• The right person must understand and embrace the mission of the Brady Farm as a non-profit seeking to serve the community by providing high quality locally grown food;
• The right person must be open-minded, open-hearted, patient, willing to learn quickly, and be flexible;
• Have a genuine interest in locally grown food and how to prepare it, and have experience eating, preparing and/or growing local foods;
• Be able to communicate professionally with customers;
• Be able to follow directions closely and work independently;
• Be able to and comfortable working with a diverse set of team members and customers;
• Have a high standard for product quality and work integrity;
• Be able to work in all weather, including in hot greenhouses; cold rainy conditions; in full sun on hot days, and indoors;
• Be able to carry 50 lbs for short distances and stay on their feet for 8 hrs at a time; and
• Be comfortable converting weight and volume measurements and doing basic math in their head.
