About Fishkill Farms:
Fishkill Farms is a 270-acre fruit and vegetable farm located in the mid-Hudson Valley, NY. Our vegetables (20 acres), berries and a portion of our apples are grown organically, and the balance is low-spray eco-apple certified. Produce is marketed through a 300-member CSA, an on-site farm store, wholesale outlets, on-farm pick-your-own, and various farmers markets, both local and in NYC.

About the Farmers Market Manager:
This is an ideal position for someone with retail and produce experience looking to take on a management role at a mission-driven family farm. Fishkill Farms sends homegrown vegetables, fruit, cider, eggs, jams and other jarred goods, frozen produce, and flowers to five local and NYC markets at different points throughout the year. The manager will act as a liaison between the farm’s different production areas (fruit/vegetable/egg/etc.) as they come together for market, and ensure that high standards are consistently met.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversees all aspects of the farm’s year-round markets, both local and NYC
- Acts as an ambassador of the farm, shares the farm’s vision with the public and creates a welcoming retail experience.
- Attends at least one market each week.
- Trains and manages 10+ city and local market workers.
- Involved in pack shed and harvest duties.
- Packs produce and supplies for all markets.
- Develops and communicates to market workers new displays and market strategies.
- Maintains market equipment and supplies, market sales records.
- Handles fruit and vegetable ordering for markets, takes the lead in the vegetable pack shed.

- Independent work ethic and works well as part of a team, communicating well with others.
- Enjoys working hard and has the ability and interest in performing physically challenging and repetitive tasks in all weather conditions; Is able to comfortably and safely lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Personable, able to deliver great customer service.
- Experience with farmers markets and managing employees a plus.
- Enthusiastic about organic agriculture and interested in having meaningful interactions with the public around food and farming.
- At least one full season on a farm or at farmers markets preferred.
- Driven - there is room for the market manager to pursue other venues for produce sales, coordinate and expand the farms donation program, work with the farm store to increase on-farm produce sales, or follow other marketing projects of interest.

Schedule: This is a year-round, full-time position beginning immediate. Work week runs Wednesday through Sunday, with hours ranging from 40 to 70, and averaging around 55/week over the season.

Requisites: Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and your own transportation.

Compensation: Base salary starts at $14/hour, compensation commensurate with experience.
