Farmers and Gardeners

GrainSeeding KateFarrar FarmersNo matter what your level of farming—from aspiring to beginning to experienced—NOFA-NY offers a range of resources and educational events to meet your needs.

There are many reasons farmers and gardeners choose to grow using organic methods. Organic farms rely on natural systems such as crop rotation and beneficial insects that create healthy soils and ecosystems. Farm animals are allowed regular access to the outdoors and are fed 100% organic feed. The result? A food and farm system that's healthier for people, animals, and the environment. Farming and gardening in this manner requires an awareness of natural systems and a knowledge of the art and science behind caring for the soil, plants, and animals in concert with nature. And we’re here to help!

Check out the technical assistance page for helpful videos and links. If you are mentoring a beginning farmer, be sure to use the On Farm Skills Development guide, located on the toolkit page.
