capitol hillThe purpose of NOFA-NY’s policy work is to advocate for a sustainable, local, organic food and farm system within New York State. We also work collaboratively with the other NOFA statewide chapters, as well as the National Organic Coalition and other groups on regional, national, and international policy issues.

The Principles of Organic Agriculture of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) serve as the foundation for our policy work. These principles emphasize health, ecology, fairness, and care. They inform our position on issues like organic integrity, GMO labeling, and soil health.
